For Kids Foundation
For Kids Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial aid and assistance to children in Northern Nevada with specific unmet needs such as medical, dental, mental health, or educational services for which other resources are insufficient or nonexistent. The Foundation serves as a safety net for children who have “fallen through the cracks” of existing agencies and charitable organizations. Through a network of community service providers and contacts, we look for those children who have a genuine need, but do not qualify for assistance from other resources. We help those kids no one else does.
Veterans Guest House
The Veterans Guest House provides United States military service veterans and their families temporary overnight accommodations when receiving treatment at a medical facility in the Reno-Sparks area.
The Guest House was founded in the early 1990s when two Reno veterans, Chuck Fulkerson and Dick Rhyno, and others, realized that veterans and family members were sleeping in their cars while visiting the local Veterans Administration Medical Center. An example of this was a woman from Bishop, Calif. who spent the night in her car with her children. The veteran husband/father was in the hospital intensive care unit. She did not know anyone in the Reno/Sparks area who could help with lodging and did not have the financial means to stay in a local motel. Thus began a credo that “never again on our watch” would veterans and their families be without a safe, warm and clean place to stay.
Jeff and Paul Young are brothers that moved to Carson City in 1992. The brothers have always shared a close bond. The bond grew in 2008, when they found a shared passion for home brewing. The hobby quickly grew into a dream of having a brewery of their own. They began brewing professionally at High Sierra Brewing Co., during which they won a gold medal for their Honey Ale at the Great American Beer Festival in 2013.
Shoe Tree Brewing Co. is located at the historic Carson Hot Springs. It occupies an 1800 square foot building and will have an onsite tasting room. The brew system is a 7 barrel (217 gallons) brew house with a four fermenter farm able to produce 600 barrels (13,950 gallons) of finished beer annually.

Pigeon Head Brewery was founded in May of 2014 with the inclination to brew traditional German style lagers. As our love for lagers grew, so did our desire to explore the many other styles that craft beer has to offer. Over the last few years, we have pushed the limits with our rotating seasonal selections. Our flagship lagers will always have a special place in our hearts as our passion grows to find the next exciting beer that will test the boundaries of craft beer.
Our taproom is a great place for the beer drinking community to unite. Stop by to enjoy weekly beer specials and pick up a case to take home. Indoor seating with views of the brew house and outdoor patio seating (weather permitting) are available for groups of all sizes. Special events and parties welcomed.
